What are Diffusers?
diffuse according to The American College Dictionary means: to spread, scatter widely, disseminate, dispense.
Lighting Diffusers come in a myriad of forms. The kind of diffuser used depends on many variable such as fixture type and location, the need for increased light output or color change, vandalism prevention, the need to upgrade the existing lighting, or even one's personal taste. In our store you will find the widest selection of commercial diffusion product available. We will be expanding our product line regularly so check back often!
Dishes:
Dishes are most commonly used on surface mounted type fixtures and are more contemporary in design. Some are made to appear to float overhead and are often referred to as 'Clouds' or 'Puffs'. Smaller versions such "Circline/Compact Fluorescent Diffusers' are commonly used in residential applications like kitchens and corridors. Additionally, there are 'Snap-In' dishes and 'Flange Pans' which are used commercially in office environments.
Globes:
Globes are manufactured in various shapes, materials, colors and sizes. Spheres, cubes and bottle globes are the most common types, and have applications in everything from the front lawn to the stadium parking lot.
Louvers:
Louvers, whether aluminum or plastic, are designed to direct light to the work-surface and eliminate unwanted glare. In many cases, louvers create an entirely new look to existing outdated fixtures. They are manufactured in many different cell sizes for use in various types of installations including cove & perimeter lighting, office environments, automobile showrooms, department stores, and display and scenic designers.
Safety Sleeves:
Safety Sleeves are designed to contain glass particles in case of fluorescent lamp failure. They are available for all size lamps from T5 through T17 in all wattage's. They are also available in UV inhibiting material and a myriad of colors for decorative purposes. Many safety codes require covering fluorescent lamps with safety sleeves when used in certain areas. Safety sleeves are typically used in food processing plants, factories, and supermarkets.
Vapor- Tites:
Vapor-Tite diffusers are used in conjunction with existing fiberglass fixture enclosures. They are generally clear and attach to the housing's gasketing via latches to form a barrier against dust and moisture. These are most commonly found in commercial kitchens, garages and outdoor areas where contaminants (dirt, weather, etc) are problematic.
Wrap-Arounds:
There are hundreds of styles of wrap-around diffusers. The term 'wrap-around' means that the diffuser covers both the face and the sides of the light fixture. Generally, these extruded plastic diffusers have linear side patterns and prismatic faces. They are used in nearly every type of lighting installation including commercial spaces, schools, and hospitals.
